Club History ...

Intersports was founded in 1981 when boys who had played in cub football expressed a desire to continue playing. Keith Heazel, a parent of one of the boys took on the responsibility of managing the team and the club was born.

That team entered the local Thundermite league and were promoted to the premier division in their first season.Unfortunately they found the going much tougher and were relegated the following season!

The team won a six a side competition but its league form was always erratic and they eventually folded after a string of poor results and some disciplinary problems.

The first Intersports team

However, by this time the club had merged with another local team and new teams were formed annually at the under 10 age group. Over the years the team have had varying success, but in recent years, teams lead by Bill Corthine and Ken Dean have won the Thundermite and Chelmsford leagues. Ken’s team most recently, when winning the Chelmsford U18 league in 1996. The 1997/98 season brought success for the Under 12A team which won Division 2 of the Chelmsford league, and the Under 18 team which won the league cup and came runners up in the league.

Today, the mens teams play in the Chelmsford Invitation league and all of the boys teams play in the Chelmsford league . The club coaches also teach 5 and 6 year olds the basics of the game.

The Club's Aim

The aim of the club shall be to provide the opportunity and equipment for local youth to play organised football wherever possible

The club also takes the players on a number of outings during the year and plays pre-season friendlies outside of its area to build relationships with other clubs.

INTERSPORTS U8A - 8 BROOMFIELD U8B - 0

Inter played well in sunny conditions against hard-working opposition. George Rawlinson started brightly up front for the home team scoring two fine opportunist goals. Inter created plenty of chances but due to fine goalkeeping the score did not change until after the interval.

Timothy Blore, Alex Escott and Andrew Smith added their names to the scoresheet before Jonathan Bacon completed the scoring in the final minute. Impressive performances by all the Intersports players, especially Jack Copsey with his determined tackling and creative passing.

Writtle "B"4 Intersports U10 "A" 9

This was an incredible game which saw Inter dominate possession ,create numerous first half chances with excellent passing and yet went 2-0 down after Writtle struck two good goals. Jamie Deysell pulled one back at the end of the half before Writtle took a 3-1 lead early in the second half. Amazingly Inter then scored 8 goals in 20 minutes Declan Lynn and Lewis Ward scoring three , Deysell notching a second and James Chauvin scoring one. Although Inter conceded a fourth Richard Devereux was majestic at the back setting up numerous attacks. Inter were able to rest Lynn and Ben Rich in the final 10 minutes giving Simon Robertson and Jeff Hurley a useful run out.

Intersports Tigers U.10 3 Wilvale Rangers 'C' U.10 0.

The Intersports Tigers welcomed Wilvale to their new home ground at Lake Meadows. Within minutes Inter broke past the Wilvale defence and Ryan Smithers found the net. Jamie Garrard and man of the match, Daniel Evans, were strong throughout and both came close to scoring, Garrard hitting the woodwork three times.Steven Paoletti scored a well deserved third goal which sealed a victory for the Tigers.
